A Global Label for Rivers in Commons

Rivers in Commons — a global initiative spearheaded by the UNESCO Chair in Urban Landscape — has received the Living With River Label, an international designation for projects “that speaks of possibilities and shares enthusiasm” about continental rivers. The labeling of the of Rivers in Common took place during an online ceremony that gathered projects from all around the world.

Provided by the International Association of Continental Rivers, in partnership with the World Meteorological Organization — an UN agency —, the Living with Rivers Label highlights positive initiatives, and tell of the commitment of actors rooted in the territories in response to the major challenges facing rivers.

Rivers in Commons comprises many projects lead or co-lead by the UNESCO Chair in Urban Landscape on continental rivers. These projects include the UNESCO Studio, which has focused on the Saint-Lawrence River, the Mekong River, the Red River and the Mississippi over the last four years. River in Commons — which support research creation and action research initiative — also takes the form of a series of exhibitions that have taken place around the world.
