On October 1, 2026, Shin Koseki, holder of the UNESCO Chair in Urban Landscape, took part in a public panel on quality of life and the city of tomorrow, organized by the Initiative en santé urbaine of Université de Montréal’s École de santé publique.
Moderated by Yann Kestens, the discussion brought together Julie-Maude Normandin, chief science advisor of the City of Longueuil, Denis Doiron (CANUE, École de santé publique) and Emmanuelle Hébert (Culture Montréal) to discuss well-being in the city in the face of climate change.
Shin Koseki stressed that no issue is too small or too large, from soil permeability at the scale of a single lot to collaboration between municipalities, and called for recognizing the full diversity of knowledge, whether scientific, artistic or citizen, without ranking it.
Thank you to the Initiative en santé urbaine for this open conversation with the public, and to all the panelists for their insights.
